Aerobiodiversity
With a large meadow conducive to biodiversity, our structure is committed to protecting flora and fauna while complying with aeronautical and regulatory constraints.
Our Bastia Poretta airport has achieved this:
The Aerobio Label - Level 1.
This label demonstrates the investment and commitment of the EPCI of Corsica and the airport teams to sustainable development and environmental protection.
Since 2016, our platform has been a partner in this approach. The participatory science protocols have been monitored regularly since we joined.
In 2023, 96 plant species, including 7 have been observed, 52 bird species, including 5 new (all have national protection status), 84 insect species, including 2 news, 6 species of bat and a red fox.
Over the past year (2023), the AéroBiodiversité Association has carried out 3 protocol visits (including one at night).

Airport carbon accreditation
The airport has taken steps to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by joining the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
The Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme run by ACI (Airport Council International) independently assesses and recognises the efforts made by airports to manage and reduce carbon emissions through 7 levels of certification.
What is the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme?
- Institutionally recognised global certification programme for airport carbon management
- Independently assesses and recognises the efforts made by airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions through 4 levels of certification: Mapping, Reduction, Optimisation and Neutrality.
- Enables airports to access different levels of carbon management and carbon neutrality for airports of all sizes
Why get involved?
The island airports managed by the EPCI are committed to sustainable development and ecological transition in order to preserve the region's environmental heritage. It is therefore important to adopt a long-term approach with objectives focused primarily on assessing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
